AirtelTigo is the second largest Ghanaian mobile network company, born when Tigo Ghana Limited and Airtel Ghana merged in 2017. It’s a service that allows you to send and receive money on your smartphone. You can deposit this cash via authorised Money Agents and you don’t have to have a bank account to use it.
You’ll need an AirtelTigo SIM to register for this service and can choose from 1 of 3 tiers. The Bronze level allows for a maximum wallet balance of GH₵2 000, a daily transaction limit of GH₵1 000 and a monthly limit of GH₵6 000.
The Gold level has a maximum wallet balance of GH₵15 000, a daily transaction limit of GH₵5 000 and no limit on monthly transactions. The Platinum pushes your maximum balance up to GH₵30 000, lets you transact to the amount of GH₵10 000 daily and has no limits on monthly transactions.
