Botswana’s Gambling Authority has recently announced the appointment of Mr. Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Honourable Mmusi Kgafela, the Minister of Trade and Industry, has endorsed this appointment, effective from the 10th of November 2023. Mr. Kesitilwe, who has been acting as CEO since August 2022, now officially takes the helm, marking a new era for the regulatory body.
Mr. Kesitilwe brings a wealth of experience and qualifications to his new position as CEO of Botswana’s Gambling Authority. As a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA), and Global Chartered Management Accountant (CGMA), he possesses a solid professional foundation that underpins his strategic leadership abilities. His extensive career, spanning over 19 years, with a notable 11 years at the Executive Management level, reflects his dynamic journey in the corporate world.
A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
Beyond his professional accolades, Mr. Kesitilwe’s commitment to academic excellence shines through. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Strategic Business Management from the prestigious Manchester Metropolitan University, complemented by the esteemed Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification.
His dedication to continuous learning is evident in his participation in courses such as “Being a Director” with the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA), Corporate Governance – King IV, and the revised Code of the Report on Governance Principles for South Africa (King III).
A Career Defined by Outstanding Contributions
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Kesitilwe has contributed substantially in various roles. These include his tenure as the Chief Financial Officer at the Gambling Authority and his role as the Group Chief Financial Officer at Boitekanelo Group.
Additionally, he has held positions such as Director of Corporate Services, Finance Manager, and Management Accountant at the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA). His journey includes serving as an Accountant at the Botswana Savings Bank and commencing his professional voyage as a Management Accountant at African Alliance.
