Tunisia vs Australia

BCA Prediction: Tunisia win
Tunisia held Denmark to a 0-0 draw in their opener, and they will see this as a must-win match ahead of their final group-stage match against France. The Carthage Eagles are proving a tough nut to crack for most teams, with their opener making it 9 clean sheets in their last ten matches. Coach Jalel Kadri has turned the Tunisians into a well-drilled outfit, and the only goals they have conceded in those ten games have come against Brazil.
The Socceroos took a shock early lead against France, but it was one-way traffic from then on. The four goals they conceded against France make it ten goals they have conceded in their last six competitive games. Overall, they have now won just 2 of their last ten fixtures, so they have it all to do in this match.
Graham Arnold’s side have to get a result here to stay in this competition, while their opponents know they will need to get all the points they can before they come up against France, so this will be a fairly open game. Even though Tunisia aren’t exactly prolific, averaging 1.5 goals per match over the last 10 matches, they have shown that they can keep things tight at the back. Tunisia to win or draw is s fairly safe pick here.
Key Takeaways:
- Tunisia have kept a clean sheet in their last 5 consecutive matches
- Tunisia are in an unfortunate period, having won just 1 of their last 7 matches in World Cup
- Australia have won only 2 of their last ten competitive fixtures
- Australia have just 1 win in their last 13 World Cup matches
Poland vs Saudi Arabia
26 November 2022
BCA Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
Saudi Arabia recorded a famous win against Argentina in their opener, and all eyes will now be on this match to see if they can follow up with another famous result here. That victory was Saudi’s twelfth win in the last 15 competitive matches, so they will be quite optimistic coming up against the Poles. Argentina did create chances though, and they had three goals disallowed in the first 45 minutes before Saudi improved early on.
Poland created chances too in their goalless opener with Mexico recording 13 shots against them. This did not come as a surprise since they conceded goals in five of their six Nations League games earlier this year. Even in qualifying, their defensive issues were also exposed with goals conceded against Andorra and San Marino among the 11 goals they let in.
While Robert Lewandowski and co made a bad start at this World Cup including a missed penalty, this is one of the games they would have earmarked as a must-win. Saudi Arabia’s win against Argentina has now turned those calculations on their head with all four teams now having a shot at qualifying, so this should be a keenly contested three points. Given how open both teams have been, over 1.5 goals scored is a relatively confident pick.
Key Takeaways:
- Poland have won just 1 out of their last six matches in all competitions
- Poland have conceded 11 goals in their last six competitive matches
- Saudi Arabia conceded 15 shots against Argentina, although they came out as winners.
- Saudi Arabia are unbeaten in 21 of their last 24 all competitions games
France vs Denmark
26 November 2022
BCA Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
Les Blues came from behind with a thrilling attacking display to win 4-1 against Australia and take charge of the group. However, they lost another first-team player Lucas Hernandez to add to the injury enforced absences of Karim Benzema, Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba and Ngolo Kante. Despite the absence of these players, they will be expected to get the points to take them to the next round even if they have now conceded in 6 of their last seven games.
Didier Deschamps’ men will however be in for a much tougher test against Denmark on Saturday. The Danes struggled to open up the Tunisian defence in their opener, but they should be able to find more space to operate against a weakened but attack-minded French side. Their goalless opener is just the second time since the opening match of euro 2020 that they have failed to score in a match.
More importantly, Denmark have beaten world champions France twice in the last six months. While it may be difficult to keep Kylian Mbappe and Oliver Giroud quiet, they will be confident of finding the net against a France team that will be missing key players all over the pitch. We expect goals in this match
Key Takeaways:
- Denmark have scored in eighteen of their last 21 matches
- Denmark are unbeaten in three meetings with France, having beaten them twice in the last 6 months
- France have conceded in six of their last seven matches
- There have been 6 consecutive home World Cup wins in a row for France
Argentina vs Mexico
26 November 2022
BCA Prediction: Argentina win
On Tuesday, Argentina suffered one of the greatest shocks in World Cup history as they were blindsided by a very bold Saudi Arabia team. Despite this, they still have the quality needed to get back on track against Mexico on Saturday. Before the surprise loss, Argentina were on a run of 36 unbeaten games and had won 13 of their 16 matches since their Copa America victory.
Mexico’s opener was less eventful apart from a missed Robert Lewandowski penalty that ensured the scores stayed at 0-0. El Tri have now won just two of their last seven games in all competitions. To make matters worse, Tata Martino’s side lost six and drew one of their last seven meetings with Argentina. In those games, they have conceded 20 goals and scored only 4.
The opening round of results have thrown Group C wide open, and all of the teams will feel they have a chance to qualify. Argentina will be looking to bounce back here and kickstart their tournament, and they should be well-positioned to do so against a team they have developed the habit of beating. Lionel Messi scored their only goal of the game on Tuesday and how has eleven goals in his last 5 appearances for La Albiceleste. It is reasonable to expect him to get on the scoresheet here.
Key Takeaways:
- 4 of Argentina’s last eight matches have ended in 3-0 wins
- Argentina have now only lost 1 game in the last 37 matches
- Mexico have lost six of their last 7 matches against Argentina, conceding 20 goals and scoring 4
- A goalless streak consisting of 3 matches has marked the World Cup campaign of Mexico
