There’s no end to the potential on the African continent. About to make full use of that potential is a brand-new joint venture spearheaded by iGaming and sports betting giant 888 Holdings PLC.

Hoping to tap into the incredible potential are several industry veterans, these veterans have now linked up with the 888 brand in a joint venture called 888AFRICA.

According to a recent media release, 888AFRICA will make 888 brands available to selected regulated gambling and betting across the continent. 888 Holdings confirmed that it will endeavour to increase its current stake in the joint venture to nearly 100% over the coming few years.

The Best in the Business Combined

At the helm of 888AFRICA are long-time industry stalwarts Alex Rutherford, who is the former Chief Product Officer at Editec Online, and Christopher Coyne, ex-Chief Marketing Officer at The Stars Group. Also involved are Helen Scott-Allen, previous Chief Financial Officer of Premier Bet, and Ian Marmion, formerly the Sportsbook Trading Director at The Stars Group. Andrew Lee, who previously filled the role of Managing Director of Sportsbook of The Stars Group and is the current Chairman of Voxbet has joined too.

The focus will be 100% on providing a localized experience. 888AFRICA will make use of existing 888 platforms and third-party service providers already operational on the continent.

In 2022, launching across 4 African markets is the goal.
